The Course
Introduction to Mechanical Engineering is is a project-based course in which I will have the opportunity to engage in the engineering design process while gaining valuable skills in technical drawing, computer aided design, 3D printing, and prototype design and construction. I will explore the mechanical conversion and transfer of energy, and learn how to create machines to harness gravitational potential energy, spring potential energy, and kinetic energy for useful work, and how to analyze machines using the concepts of energy conversion and mechanical advantage. Furthermore, I will gain experience working as a part of a team, communicating about the engineering process and results, developing knowledge and solving problems independently using readily available resources, and conducting research to inform design.
Additionally, the course focuses on five domains
