Cabaret Design Project
With the COVID-19 situation, school was forced to go virtual out of preventative measures and government orders. That did not stop our stagecraft class, however. Another performance was scheduled, a performance of Joe Masteroff's Cabaret, a musical set in Berlin during Hitler's rise to power. Our assignment was to design either a set piece or a costume for it, even though we would not be performing it. I went for a table and chair combination that would be switched out for another combination in Act 2, symbolizing the oppression of minorities and Hitler's rise to power in soon-to-be Nazi Germany. The above slideshow is the entire project, which starts on the slide that only says "Cabaret Design Project," with my name, Peter Tselekis, under it.

Matilda, like Radium Girls, was not my first large production. It was, however, my first time doing anything with sound. Due to my performance backstage in Radium Girls, the director, Julie Borsetti, moved me to mics and soundboard, as she could trust me to do a good job there. I quickly got used to the job, and found sound to be quite fun as well. Just because it was fun does not mean I didn't do a good job, as I managed the mics in a way that showcased the actors and the songs. Sound is not without its issues, and there were quite a lot of mic issues, namely mic 7, Bruce's mic, which failed 50% of the time. Even with the failures, I, along with another person, made sound work for all performances, creating an enjoyable play for all.

Sandy Spring Friends School, 2019 Directed by Hanna Kerr I worked on spotlights Photos by Margaret Rosser The Dance Concert was a special case for me. I did not work on the main show, but I did work on a shortened version. I ended up doing spotlights after a person who was supposed to do one couldn't make it. Based on my performance backstage on Radium Girls, Julie Borsetti, the technical director, put me on spotlights for a quick show before our Thanksgiving meal. Given the circumstances, I learned where I needed to point the light and when very fast |

Radium Girls was not my first large-scale production. It was, however, the first time I worked backstage. It was really fun to work on the play, and I really enjoyed working backstage. On backstage, I helped coordinate and execute set changes. Radium Girls also contains my proudest moment in theater as of May 7, 2020. Over half of the backstage crew got sick, and this put a lot more responsibility on me, as I had to train others and sometimes do changes on my own. I often say that I "carried the backstage" because of the unexpectedly large workload that I rose to the challenge of. You can see some of my work organizing the backstage in the central image, organized in a way that has everything accessible when it is needed, which was very important to swift set changes, especially with a reduced crew.
